If your car has become too small to take your whole family, it is time to buy a family car. Not sure which one? With this comparison, the choice will be much easier.
When a new member of the family arrives, there are endless things that change, including the car. Safety, space, size, price or comfort are some of the main issues to consider. What are the best family cars? At Zurich we want you to be able to make the decision with the maximum information, that is why we have compiled a list with some of the best cars on the market for family travel.
When we talk about family cars, we mean vehicles larger than the typical utility vehicle. For this reason, family cars are usually either family saloons or minivans or SUVs. Depending on the characteristics you are looking for and how much space you need, we recommend that you choose one model or another:
A saloon is a vehicle that has the most common type of bodywork, that is, three bodies: one for the hood and engine, another for the passenger compartment and the last for the trunk. And if we talk specifically about the family saloon, it is simply a more elongated and spacious model. Most manufacturers offer the same model in utility and station wagon, the latter offering more trunk space and, often, folding and removable seats.
If you have a large family and you are interested in a car that can offer even more than seven seats, then your best option is surely a minivan. And it is that having a single body takes more space than sedans. Among others, its seats recline and move according to needs, achieving great versatility. They are also usually taller cars, so that the driver has a higher position and, therefore, wider of the road. Against them it should be noted that, precisely because of their height, they are less aerodynamic and consume more. And if you park on the street, its length can also be an element to value. Still, car design has evolved a lot in recent years, blurring the differences between types and models.
Among the high-end and higher-priced family cars we find the BMW 3 Series Touring, the Audi A4 Avant and the Mercedes C-Class Estate, all five-door and over 35,000 euros.
